I think that they have moved away from simplicity and food friendliness, and towards "achieving something special" or whatever in every bottle. Too complicated is not goo when the wine is meant to drink up young with food. Breton's high end wines were good in the 2002 vintage though. I have yet to taste the recent release (2004 Senechal, $25). Let you know when I do.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799854524070158890.post-2195907202048398642007-04-03T12:28:00.000-04:002007-04-03T12:28:00.000-04:00Still negotiating my way though the uber post (I t...Still negotiating my way though the uber post (I think you can take a short retirement from the blog in April and just keep reposting these as individual entries!)

While visiting New York I picked up the Trinch! on the strength of the Breton name. I thought the same thing. Not for me! What is up with that style of Bourgeuil? Reminds me of another one similar to it called Tuffeau from Christophe Chasle. You can love the Loire and cab franc and still come up against this stuff and ask yourself: Is this actually wine?Marcushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02221624021529319291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799854524070158890.post-59647151667725861142007-03-30T19:14:00.000-04:002007-03-30T19:14:00.000-04:00Hi Wayiwalk - thanks for stopping by and for your ...Hi Wayiwalk - thanks for stopping by and for your comments. I would pay also, and that's probably what is necessary here, a small fee.

And wow - thanks so much for your compliments, anon 6:03 PM. Very nice of you to say. I hope you can find these wines and that you enjoy tasting them too.

take it easy.Brooklynguyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16321573602782343974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799854524070158890.post-24694298010377442382007-03-30T18:03:00.000-04:002007-03-30T18:03:00.000-04:00I wasn't at this tasting (darn it) because I live ...I wasn't at this tasting (darn it) because I live on the other side of the country! But you've done a splendid job of describing your reactions to each wine and I'll bear your observations in mind as some of them make their way to the left coast. I think you have great taste which, based on your and my own reactions to the 2005 Huet Vouvrays, seem to be fairly well calibrated.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799854524070158890.post-76318323722577391492007-03-30T16:27:00.000-04:002007-03-30T16:27:00.000-04:00AGREE on the idea of holding this tasting at a ven...AGREE on the idea of holding this tasting at a venue that makes sense - I'd pay to attend, that is, if I could be sure that I'd actually show up.

wayiwalkAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799854524070158890.post-28297159894765581252007-03-28T22:28:00.000-04:002007-03-28T22:28:00.000-04:00not machine...human! i am human!not machine...human! i am human!Brooklynguyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16321573602782343974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799854524070158890.post-21878538539281974162007-03-28T22:08:00.000-04:002007-03-28T22:08:00.000-04:00This is an insane post. I also went back and tasted most wines twice. I was there during the apparently less crowded early shift. I wrote my detailed notes on the subway home.

And Hey Doc Vino! Thanks so much for stopping by and for your comments. I have embarrassingly never been to Crush. I am going asap, as I hear good things. I knew that I might have undervalued the Roussanne, especially in the same tasting with all the Chenins.

Why wordpress?Brooklynguyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16321573602782343974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799854524070158890.post-88534596431442681622007-03-28T20:40:00.000-04:002007-03-28T20:40:00.000-04:00Thanks for the notes! I don't know how you managed to write such detail tasting notes, especially at table 4, when a lot of folks were just trying to get the attention of the pourer or trying to get a 2nd tasting or just plain flirting with the pourer. Sadly, that was the table where I could not even squeeze through the crowd.
Well, I was there from 3:30 - 4:30 which may be the height of the 1st tasting session.
Thanks for the notes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799854524070158890.post-27657423898732187322007-03-28T15:35:00.000-04:002007-03-28T15:35:00.000-04:00Sounds great, will do.
