Bienvenue Vignerons!
The other night Alice Feiring's hosted a party to welcome a load of wine makers to town. These folks are here for the Jenny & Francois portfolio tasting, and also in some cases for the Return to Terroir event. Alice cooked, everybodyate, talked, laughed, and drank great wine. I had a blast, and was reminded that the hands of a vigneron are like clubs, calloused, grizzled, and huge. Any of these guys could throttle a horse or break through a concrete cinderblock with one blow. You shake hands with six of these guys in a half hour and see what happens. A few snaps:
Pierre Jancou, owner of Racines wine bar in Paris, his wife Celine to his right, and mystery woman to his left who may very well be Olivier Cousin's wife Claire.

I love the boldface names post and am so bummed that I wasn't there! (not that alice would have invited me... pout pout...)
I was invited but couldn't make it. Unfortunately, I can't go up five flights of steps in my current condition.
But I heard it was great!
you were invited Jeremy, but i hear you live in austin texas now. next time you're in town...
hi Joe - it was a great time. had i known that the steps were the obstacle preventing your attendance, i assure you that i would have arranged some sort of pulley system, or simply gathered a few friends and carried you up the stairs. it would have been well worth it.
Claire (Olivier's wife) is actually the woman on the right side of that picture. The woman on the left must be his wife?
Pierre's left is the right side of the picture. i do that all the time too...
I believe you all enjoyed it to the fullest. Wish I could be there too.
